The Research Center charges for the production of digital scans of images. All orders that must be burned to CD will be charged at an additional rate of $5.00 per CD. All orders that must be shipped will be charged a flat rate of $5.00. Shipping of more than five compact discs will be charged at a higher rate and must be arranged with the Archivist.

Only materials smaller than 12" x 15" or 30.5 x 38cm may be scanned.

Because photographic and A/V materials are covered by U.S. copyright law, each collection may have its own additional set of rights and restrictions stipulated in the original donation agreement, some collections can only be accessed and viewed. Other collections can be accessed and reproduced for private or public use in research, publications, or advertising. As a result, all material from the collections to be used for publication or commercial purposes, regardless the format of the image delivered, is governed by our Historical Materials License Agreement. Please consult the Archivist in regard to specific collection conditions.

This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.

Use Fees

The Iron Range Research Center charges a "use fee" for the privilege of using material from the archives for profit generating activities and/or publication. Such fees are charged in addition to reproduction fees as listed above, and are assessed according to the table below.
