It's been a year in the making, but finally, with the first day of spring, we launched a brand new website for the Discovery Center, along with a new and improved genealogy search engine at IronRangeResearchCenter.org. We are very excited about the changes!

This is the first step among many to improve our ability to tell the story of the Iron Range region online, to connect us more closely with our existing audiences and to make new friends all over the world.

One of the most important new features is the site's mobile-friendly design.  The site's layout is "responsive" to different types of devices and looks great whether you're viewing it on your phone (and on the go) or on a tablet, laptop or other larger "standard" computers.  Both the graphic design concept and coding was done by our digital partner, plein air interactive, an agency that specializes in working with museums.

The updated look also helps to feature what's happening in an engaging way, in ways that make sharing through social media networks easier.  We're able to publish more quickly and easily with a new and improved content management system ("CMS").

Other new features include improved e-commerce features that now allow you to purchase memberships or make a donation online.  If you're interested in renting our Pavilion, Amphitheatre or museum spaces, we now have more information online than ever before, brochures you can download and an online venue rental form you can fill out and submit to get in touch about making a reservation.

Above all, the new site helps us feature our special events, exhibits and research center in a much better way.  You'll see that almost every page on our new site has great photography, all the better to show how we are the Museum of the Iron Range.

We'd love to hear what you think of the new site in the comments.  Let us know how we're doing and what suggestions you might have to make this site (and the Center overall) an even better place!
