The Iron Range Research Center in Chisholm, MN on the Mesabi Range, just a stone’s throw from the Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness Area, Lake Superior, and all of the outdoor recreational opportunities that living in the Northland of Minnesota affords.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Survey, appraise, arrange, describe, and provide access to records documenting northeastern Minnesota. Provide reference services. Oversee annual budget for archives management. Develop Procedures, protocols and workflows to support ongoing staff and volunteer contributions to management of the Iron Range Research Center’s archival assets. Meet with organizational and individual donors to acquire collections. Plan and participates in public events. Provide presentations regarding the Iron Range Research Center’s archival program and its collections. Engage in collaborative grant writing. Must be able to safely lift and carry 40 lbs. Some Saturday hours required.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master of Library Science degree or equivalent from an American Library Association-accredited program with coursework in archives and records management;

Certified Archivist, or working toward certification;

Good written and verbal communication, project management, and planning;

Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and effectively with colleagues and the general public;

Demonstrated knowledge of archival principles and practice;

Experience with digitization projects and content management systems.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

One year + experience as a professional archivist;

Experience with cartographic records;

Experience with industrial records;

Experience with public (government) records;

A record of successful grant writing
